TasCaffe Coffee Roasters appeared on the coffee scene in 2000 when the Cioppi family packed up their busy lives in Melbourne and moved to Tasmania for a more relaxed lifestyle.

Having left the busy emerging coffee industry in Melbourne, the Cioppi family could see that Hobart was on the verge of what would become today’s bustling cafe scene.  With over 30 years’ experience between them they started roasting a small amount of Italian style coffee to share with their friends in the Italian community. As word got out about how good it was, it soon made its way into local cafes. In no time at all, they were roasting coffee for some of the busiest cafes and restaurants in Hobart.

Nick, Frank and Wendy continued to build and grow the business earning a reputation for being the best coffee with the best machinery support in Hobart.

After 13 years, long after Nick and Wendy had passed retirement age, they handed the reigns of the business over to Rachael and Matthew who were already in the coffee industry.  Nick stayed on to transition the business and pass on a lifetime of industry knowledge.

With the business reinvigorated and moving forward, Nick stayed on for a further three years and helped to grow the business further with Rachael and Matthew to the stage where he felt his job was done and he could proudly slip into retirement.  

Today TasCaffe is one of the leading coffee roasters in Tasmania, providing a statewide service supplying major tourism infrastructure including the TT Line Spirit of Tasmania vessels, the Hobart Airport and many many other tourism operators around Tasmania.

Although Nick retired in 2017, he is still very much a part of TasCaffe Coffee Roasters. He stops by several times a week to check in on us, have a cuppa, or to help us out with machinery repairs and keep himself busy.
