Taste of Tam O'Shanter

Karen the founder and owner journey began long before she realised this would be the path she would take.  She grew up on an isolated property in Northern Tasmania where they grew all our fruit and vegetables, then spending hours in their little kitchen preserving our surplus into all sorts of tasty delights.

It took many years to realise that pickling and preserving isn’t just a passion it is in my blood. So a Taste of Tam O’Shanter became a reality.

Taste of Tam O’Shanter is now a multi award winning business based on the Northeast Coast of Tasmania.

Taste of Tam O’Shanter has many gold medal products from the Hobart Fine Food Awards as well as Champion Savoury Preserve for their Pickled Cucumbers.

Most of the Taste of Tam O’Shanter’s recipes have been born using age old techniques then adding their own modern twist where they think it’s needed.  Some of the recipes have taken years to develop and some have been first attempt successes.

They are also passionate about their gardens where the majority of our main ingredients are grown, nurturing our seedling to grow the best crop nature will allow. 

The Bass Strait winds can be destructive, but they also bring nutrients and amazing clean air that they think helps with flavour of our crops.  If they can’t grow their own, they buy from other like minded local producers in our area.

They make all the products in small batches so that the flavours that we work so hard to create aren’t lost in the process.
